Birthdays

My littlest sister is 21! Wow.

The title of this post makes me think of a song we used to sing at Sunday School (oh so cool I know) which went something along the lines of ‘Birthdays are happy days, for loving and sharing…’ I can’t remember any more but I have those lines stuck in my head now.

We have had a lovely weekend of celebrations ranging from a night out in London on the Royal Wedding day to a family BBQ today. It’s my birthday tomorrow so it has been non-stop celebrations for 4 days. Hooray.

About Jefner

Hi! I'm Jen, thanks for stopping by. I hope you find some things you're interested in. I'm a compulsive day dreamer and people watcher, if I could, I would spend most of my life in a coffee shop drinking coffee, reading books, writing and people watching. I write letters, a lot, and sometimes I send vegetables in the post too. I'm a bit of an outdoor activities junkie and have kayaking and canoeing running through my blood! I like going away on adventures, exploring new places and meeting new people. Enjoy.

  1. Happy birthday to your sister, and of course, happy early birthday to you!

I remember when my brother turned 21, a few months ago. It was a startling day: I realized that he was no longer the “little” brother I had always know, but instead that he was a mature, happy adult — someone I was proud to call not just a sibling, but a friend.

I know which birthday song you mean. From what I rememer, the complete song went: “Birthdays are happy days for loving and sharing, thank you for and bless his/her next year.”

I learnt it at a Sunday School in a church in Wrentham, Suffolk. Not the same Sunday School you attended, was it?
